创作背景
该诗写于1825年，正是普希金流放南俄敖德萨同当地总督发生冲突后，被押送到其父亲的领地米哈伊洛夫斯科耶村幽禁期间所作。从1824年8月至1826年9月，是一段极为孤独寂寞的生活。那时俄国革命如火如荼，诗人却被迫与世隔绝。在这样的处境下，诗人仍没有丧失希望与斗志，他热爱生活，执著地追求理想，相信光明必来，正义必胜。
1825年俄历十二月，俄国爆发了反对沙皇残暴统治的武装起义——十二月党人起义，面对十二月党人起义前后剧烈动荡的社会风云，普希金不仅同火热的斗争相隔绝，而且与众多亲密无间的挚友亲朋相分离。幸亏夜晚有终生挚爱的奶妈相陪伴，讲故事为他消愁解闷；白天，到集市上去，与纯朴的农人为友，和他们谈话，听他们唱歌。孤寂之中，除了读书、写作，邻近庄园奥西波娃一家也给诗人愁闷的幽禁生活带来了一片温馨和慰藉。这首诗就是为奥西波娃15岁的女儿即诗人的女友叶甫勃拉克西亚.尼古拉耶夫娜·伏里夫所写的，题写在她的纪念册上。诗人的这首诗后来不胫而走，成为诗人广为流传的作品。

And game has turned into a track meet

From illegal physical contact

or violations by team members
I was absolutely livid on the sideline
as players clawed their way back into the game
but yet every jump ball on the ref
is a floor violation by the bells.

With five minutes left on the clock
the officials were right on top of us

The International Children's Day (ICD) is celebrated in numerous countries, usually (but not always) on June 1 each year.
The ICD had its origin in the World Conference for the Wellbeing of Children in Geneva, Switzerland in 1925. It is not clear as to why June 1 was chosen as the ICD: one theory has it that the Chinese consul-general in San Francisco (USA) gathered a number of Chinese orphans to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival in 1925, which hened to be on June 1 that year, and also coincided with the conference in Geneva.
June 1 has since been observed as the ICD by numerous countries, especially by Communist countries; in the Western world the ICD is usually celebrated on other days of the year (if at all), and there is often little public awareness about these celebrations.
