会有那么一天吗?
1. bad hair day 不如意的一天;不愉快的一天
Bad就是不好;hair是头发，bad hair day的字面意思就是：这一天的头发不好。这也符合这个说法的原意。刚开始的时候，bad hair day是年轻女子用来形容她们的头发。有的时候，由于刮风，或者天气潮湿而无法维持她们原来做得很好的发型，这就是bad hair day。
可是，过去十几年来，这个说法变成了一个习惯用语，跟头发毫无关系了。男男女女都可以用bad hair day来表示那一天他什么事情都不顺利。我们大家有的时候都遇到这种日子的。
下面我们来举一个例子。这是一个人下班后在告诉他太太他当天不顺利的事一件接着一件，他很久没碰到这种情况了。他说：

2. he your day in court 发表你的观点
Court就是法庭。但是，he your day in court从字面上来看似乎是你那天要上法庭。其实，这个习惯用语和法庭没有关系。He your day in court，就是在一些你认为很重要的问题上有机会坦率地发表你的观点。

3. that will be the day! 会有那么一天吗?
That will be the day是一个用得非常普遍的习惯用语。That will be the day，这里你每个字都知道，但是，你恐怕不知道它到底是什么意思。美国人用这个习惯用语已经有四十多年了。我们经常会有希望，希望某件好事能够发生，或者给别人许愿。在这种情况下，要是对方说：That will be the day，那就意味着，他对你希望发生的事，或对你的许愿表示怀疑，认为那是不可能的，而且还带有浓厚的讽刺性。
例句-3： Sure, the boss promised us a raise again, but he's done that before and then findssome excuse not to do it. This time he said we can expect a nice raise by January 1. Yeah, sure - that will be the day! We're afraid it just won't come true!

1. ring a bell 使人回忆起(听起来熟悉)
Ring a bell里的ring是个动词，意思是敲钟，或者是打铃。 作为一个习惯用语，ring a bell就是：你听到或看到的事让你想起某个人，或者想起过去发生的某件事。
比如说，下面例句里说话的这个人正跟一个朋友在马路上走。他看到对马路的一个女子，他觉得脸很熟。突然，他想起来她是谁了。于是他对他的朋友说：

2. sound as a bell 十分健全的
Sound这个单词有许多意思，在这个习惯用语里，sound 是指健康情况很好，没有疾病或伤痛。下面我们来听一个例句。说话的这个人似乎很高兴，他说：
例句-2：Yes, I've just come back from seeing my doctor for my annual health examination. Hespent a lot of time checking me over. But he finally told me that I'm as sound as a bell, I'm ingood shape.

3. sed by the bell 因某人或某事的及时介入而获救
Sed是指一个人从困难中或从危险的处境中得救了。Sed by the bell这个习惯用语的意思是：在最后关头得救了。
这个习惯用语是来自拳击运动。比赛时负责计算时间的人一打铃就表示一个回合的开始，再打铃表示这个回合结束。当一个拳击手被对方打倒在地的时候，裁判员就站在边上，对着他开始慢慢地从一数到十。
要是计算时间的人在裁判员还没有数到十的时候打铃表示这场回合的时间已到，比赛就在短暂休息后再继续进行。这就是sed by the bell这个习惯用语的出处。到1950年左右，这个习惯用语就被一般人用，包括那些从来没有看过拳击的人。

当别人在你旁边罗嗦个没完，你烦透了，说“you are so boring “.(你真烦！)。“shut up !”(闭嘴！)自然没错，可人家受得了吗？不如来一句“oh, come on.give me a break !” (帮帮忙，让我歇歇吧！)这多地道、多幽默。
要想说人“气色好”。“you look fine!”当然不错，可如果你说“you’re in the pink !”就妙得多了，实际上，在英语口语中，表示颜色的词用起来非常形象生动。
“他精力充沛”美国人说：“he is bouncy.”而不说“he is energetic ”,牢记一些日常对话中的活句式是你一把必备的钥匙。
如：久仰，“I get mind of you ”比“I heard a lot about you.”轻松得多。 代问他人好当然能用”please remember me to your sister .” 或“please give my best wishes to your father ”不过，若是很好的朋友，何不说，“please give my love to Jim。”
在中国可不能随便说“我想你”，然而，当和西方人分手时说“I will miss you.”要比说“good-bye”或“see you soon”有趣得多，不妨一试。
有人开会迟到了，你若对他说 “you are late .”，听起来象是废话，若说“did you get lost”，则更能让他歉然，可别说成“get lost!”那可是让人滚蛋的意思。
别人征求你的意见，问能否开窗户等，你要说“you can do that .”就有点土了，用一句“do you he the time? ”实际上，问他人的姓名，地址都可以这么用：“may I he you name?”要比”what’s your name ”礼貌得多，不过警察例外。
别人问你不愿公开的问题，切勿用“it’s my secret ,don’t ask such a personal question .”回答，一来显得你没有个性，二来也让对方尴尬。你可以说“I would rather not say .”(还是别说了吧！)。
有时候，你想说什么，可说是想不起来，你可以说“well …”“let me see”“just a moment ”或“it’s on the tip of my tongue.”等，相比之下，最后一个句型是最地道的。
交谈时，你可能会转换话题，不要只说“by the way ”,实际上，“to change the subject”“before I forget”“while I remember”“mind you ”都是既地道有受欢迎的表达。
